What Now? Our first exhibition. :)

Galway Design Hub’s activities are mostly based online, digital connections, but now our first exhibition brings our members into physical space. Work on show for An Áit Eile’s What Now? will include;

Off-Beat Photography (Patrizio Mancuso) who’s work for this will be photo stills from NUIG’s biomedical department.

Blochaus (Diarmuid Russell) exhibiting new illustrations.

– Wild Irish Drums (Daithi Dubh) who will exhibit highly finished single drums made from natural materials.

– Pallet furniture by Simon Kennedy.

– Planting from Rory Newell (Forest Moon), with preview of his entry into next year’s Bloom festival.

– Bilingual screenprints from Dublin based guests Siún Ní Dhuinn and Gillian Henderson (As An Nua).

– Bilingual slate signage provided by Peter McManus, with words/typography by Bernard McGlinchey (Freeflow Creativity).

– Demo stand of Histry. Experience the rich history of Galway with this new, expert-driven tour guide app.

We’ve also been busy with an exercise in social branding which will be on show. 3 new logos for local, socially-minded groups who we’re ready for a visual identity; Cosáin (community wellness), Friends of Merlin Woods (woodland protection) and Ragairí (local performance troupe).

Last but certainly not least is our 20x20x20 social outreach collaboration with some of the children of Scoil Chroí Íosa (The Pres Primary School) on the theme of “Be Happy:)”. 20 paintings (20cmx20cm) by the school kids will be on display.

80% of sales of design work will go to the designers, 20% goes to An Áit Eile for event costs and for future events.
